WHAT IS SUMMER SHIPPING?
We have made some accommodations to make shipping our lip balm during the summer more feasible. All lip balm packages during summer months will be packed with thermal wrap and contain gel ice packs (These are reusable so that you can get some use out of them too!) All summer orders containing these products will also be shipped USPS Priority Mail so as to get it to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Beeswax between 144-147° F
Cocoa Butter about 100° F
Coconut Oil 76° F
WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE?
As a formulator, I love creating natural lip balm products. As I keep things as natural as possible, my products are affected by temperature…I will not add synthetic ingredients that will make it more temperature stable.
We can’t control what happens once USPS deliveries it. Mailboxes can get insanely hot in the summer, as can packages left out on your porch, in the sun, during a hot summer day.
Keep an eye on tracking so you can grab your package as soon as it arrives or request it to be shipped to your work if no one will be home to take it out of the heat.
MY PRODUCTS MELTED ANYWAY! HELP!
If your product does melt or get soft, in spite of the efforts we have made to prevent it, please don’t worry! A melted product is not a bad product.
Leave your product at room temperature for a couple hours or pop it in the fridge or freezer for a bit and it’ll go back to solid. It may look a little different but it will still be the same super nourishing lip balm.
WHICH PRODUCTS DOES THIS AFFECT?
All lip balms. If you receive this product and it is soft or melted, pop into the fridge for a little while, or if softened, leave it on a cool area for a bit.
Lip Butter and Lip Shimmers can be affected by high heat, though they usually hold up well with summer shipping. If they do melt, you can firm it back up by sticking it in the freezer for a little bit.
TIPS FOR CARE AFTER DELIVERY
Now that you’ve gotten your products safe and sound, here are a couple notes for caring for your products after you have received them….
DO NOT LEAVE PRODUCTS IN CAR!
Cars get VERY hot in the summer and the excessive heat can quickly melt products. The continual melting and hardening as you crank up the air conditioning and then melt again as it heats up after you leave again is not good for the product.
KEEP PRODUCT AWAY FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
This can also change the texture and stability of your product, and even melt it in some cases. Some of the oils used are very delicate and sensitive to the UV rays from the sun. It’s best to keep products in cool places out of direct sunlight.
